Making it Work
When ITE reached out to us for a 52-pax Sustainable Offcut Keychain workshop to help their students have a better understanding of sustainability, we knew that we had to prepare a lot for such a large crowd. Unexpectedly, only 12 people showed up due to a miscommunication, and we had to adapt to the sudden changes by making the best of the situation, even when things didn't go to plan, while maintaining the quality of the workshop
Sustainability Through Woodworking
The workshop was designed to give students a hands-on introduction to woodworking while highlighting the importance of sustainability. We guide them from start to finish and through practical activities using wood scraps from our furniture production, students gain basic woodworking knowledge & techniques while understanding how offcuts can be given a new purpose. We even ended with a lighthearted competition between participants and Ugly Wood Company to boost excitement. This demonstrated that team bonding can be built through crafting.
Turning Challenges into Impactful Opportunities
We turned unexpected challenges into new opportunities, as laughter and excitement that filled the room proves the success of the workshop. Participants not only left the workshop with a craft but also an impactful experience and a deeper understanding of sustainability. The workshop shows how adapting to unforeseen situations can turn them into new opportunities while still promoting environmental awareness.
