Woodworking for Active Aging
Lions Befrienders Service Association (LBSA) focuses on helping seniors age healthily in place, and Ugly Wood Company supports their mission through tailored woodworking programs. Unlike standard classes, our sessions accommodate a wide spectrum of mobility and ability—because aging shouldn’t limit creativity. With bilingual instruction and adaptive pacing, we transform workshops into inclusive spaces where every senior, regardless of skill level, can thrive.
Slow, Steady & Rewarding: A Programme Built for Seniors
Recognizing that mastery takes time, we spread classes across four sessions, allowing participants to gradually build confidence with tools and techniques. Each week introduces new skills at a comfortable pace, culminating in handmade souvenirs that spark pride and accomplishment. Many seniors enjoy the program so much they return for multiple rounds, proving it’s never too late to learn something new.
More Than Woodwork: Community, Pride & Purpose
Beyond saws and sandpaper, these workshops foster social bonds and cognitive engagement. Participants leave with more than just handcrafted items; they gain a sense of achievement and belonging. For LBSA, our collaboration exemplifies how purposeful activities can enrich seniors’ lives; one carefully crafted project at a time.
