When the Grab Data Science team needed a unique corporate experience for their visiting VIP, with less than 10 days’ notice, we made it happen. From finalizing the program to securing a venue and sourcing sustainable materials, our team transformed a tight timeline into a seamless hands-on workshop. The brief was clear: create an authentically local experience that would resonate with their international professionals.
Sustainable Craft Meets Friendly Competition
With help from our volunteer partners from Lions Befrienders, each participant crafted a beautiful hardwood memory box from locally sourced Khaya, blending Singaporean materials with timeless design. To amplify engagement, the team turned the session into a lighthearted competition, judging craftsmanship, creativity, and speed. Laughter and focused energy filled the room as the participants sanded, joined, and finished their pieces, proving that corporate bonding and skilled craftsmanship go hand-in-hand.
From Urgent Request to Unforgettable Experience
What began as a logistical challenge became one of our most memorable workshops. The Team Leader returned home with a handcrafted keepsake and a story to tell, while Grab’s participants gained not just woodworking skills, but a shared accomplishment. This project exemplifies how we turn constraints into creative opportunities, delivering meaningful experiences against the clock.
